The files themselves? Or the name that you enter in the Galaxy text box for the artifact name? The later is what needs to have .xml.

Yes the files did have XML extensions. I forgot to mention that in my original post.

Did you ensure that the artifact name ends with ".xml"? Galaxy needs that hint to recognize it as a mule config.
